Vue Cinemas looks for consumer PR agency as part of wider comms restructure

Vue Entertainment, the biggest cinema company in the UK, is looking for a new consumer PR agency following a comms restructure across the business, PRWeek has learned.

The consumer pitch process is being overseen by marketing director Shona Gold, who joined the company in May this year from travel media company Lonely Planet.

The process is expected to conclude by the end of August to start in September. It is not known whether incumbent agency Clarion Communications is repitching for the work. 

Clarion won the account off Freuds in 2009 following a five-way pitch.

Meanwhile other changes have been made with Brunswick winning a four-month-long competitive pitch process to manage Vue's international PR account. 

Back in March creative agency Joint, whose clients include TSB, Amazon and UKTV, was appointed to lead brand strategy and customer experience. Alongside this, TH_NK, whose clients include Warner Bros and Nando’s, has been appointed to develop a multi-channel digital user experience and customer value management capability. Both agencies have been briefed to transform the cinema-going experience for customers.

The refresh of agencies follows new management appointments including former Metro chief customer officer Dominic Rowell, who joined Vue at the end of last year as UK commercial director. Gold's appointment has also prompted the agency roster review.
